June 20, 2017 (St. John’s, NL) As the 2016-17 academic school year comes to an end, the NL Federation of School Councils (NLFSC) congratulates students and teachers on their successes and wishes them a safe and enjoyable summer.

“This has been another great school year for students in our province as they continue to excel in a variety of areas,” said Paulette Fifield, NLFSC President. “Our students have worked incredibly hard and deserve credit and praise for what they have achieved.”

The end of the school year also provides an opportunity to recognize the dedication of administrators, teachers and other education professionals throughout the province.

Educating our children for a successful future is important and influential work. We recognize our teachers, administrators and school staff for their daily contributions  in providing the richest experience possible for our students. Despite the constraints and challenges caused by our financial situation, they continue to try to find ways to leverage resources and create a system of strong and excellent schools of which we are justifiably proud.”

NLFSC applauds the volunteer school board trustees and district staff at both the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District and the Conseil Scolair Provincial Francophone for their efforts in enhancing learning opportunities for students.

” Our education partners play a key role in helping our students reach their potential and celebrate their successes along the way.”

The NLFSC Executive also recognizes the outstanding contributions of school council members who give countless hours in their advisory roles to enhance the learning environment in their schools.

“We sincerely appreciate each volunteer that serves on our School Councils and the impact they have on the education system both locally and provincially, says Fifield.
